the car cools off when i have it up at highhere rpms ,but when im in city traffic it runs hot and the temperature goes to the red .

it is a problem with the cooling fans...have the temperature sensor and fan motor tested......one of them wll probably be bad.....most likely the sensor or temp %26quot;switch%26quot; as it is sometimes called

check the cooling system... wot u can do is turn on the ac so the second fan switches on, itl help but fuel economy goes down... or ask at a local garage 2 get a bypass switch so u can on the second fan manually without turnin on the ac.... it can b done as my dads old calibra had it done
u have a bad cooling sensor some place take it to a garage and have them plug it in to see what is going on with it
