Air bubble in the system? It is getting caught when the heat valve is in the off position but when the heat is turned on the air bubble travels through the system, not impeding the flow of coolant to the radiator.

The flush and fill was designed to eliminate such problems---if the mechanic followed procedures correctly.

How long since the flush and fill? It should work itself out soon.

Have the computer sensors checked. You may also try using Castrol oil. I'm not kidding, this really helped with a Buick Regal I used to have.
they f'd up on the install of your thermostat, if you live were it does not snow, have it removed. most aftermarket thermostats are faulty, and cause more stress on the water pump than usual, if you have to have a thermostat due to snow or cold weather, investigate an open flow thermostat, it is more expensive but it protects the engine from over heating, if you did not get the old thermostat in your hand or watch them put the new one in, then they might not have changed it at all, thermostats are only good for 3 to 5 years at best, so have it completely removed if weather permits.
could be the fan switch, could be the water pump, could be the radiator is just to old, could be the transmission is over heating do to a blockage and therefore over heating the engine, could be a blockage in the radiator system or air bubble, could be bad fan motor or poor performing fan motor.

first check to see if the fan is coming on, open hood, start the car wait and see if the fan comes on usually 10 minutes or less.
water pump?
Apart from all the good answers, you may as well check the fan relays for proper operation.
HAVE YOU CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE COOLING FAN IS WORKING.
